Hi there,

I'm a PhD student in riparian plant ecology at Macquarie University in Sydney. I recently came up to Sportsman Creek to do a vegetation survey near the river gauge at the bridge on Summerland Way (actually a few hundred metres upstream of that bridge). I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful resource your site is.

Thanks very much,
James Lawson

I was in Alice Springs doing an artist residency for 6 months 2003-04 and saw massive swarms of these cicadas in the porch way to the local cinema covering the floor, glass windows and filling the air. I had difficulty not to tread on too many to get out of the door. The locals called them VW beetles for obvious reasons because of the large W on their backs. I managed to preserve some of the dead ones to use for depicting in some of my paintings. I really love them.

Was looking to identify an epiphyte I was given on a broken tree branch and stumbled onto your website. Congratulations on providing so much information about the area. I found your website very easy to navigate (huge achievement) and your pics are unreal. Keep up the wonderful job you are doing. Hope your conservation area stays long into the future and local schools utilise your knowledge.
